Zelenskyy holds meeting on Air Force development

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on the development of the Ukrainian Air Force. During the meeting, the modernization of the military aviation system was discussed, according to the President's Telegram channel.
Zelenskyy reminded that Ukraine has transitioned to F-16s, marking one of the fastest shifts to a new type of aircraft among all countries.
“We also expect French fighter jets in our skies, which, under the control of Ukrainian pilots, will definitely strengthen our defense,” the head of state noted.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine needs to accelerate the modernization of its military aviation system. This involves new personnel approaches, organizational changes, and significantly greater attention from the command to pilots, engineers, and all individuals contributing their efforts to the development of the Air Force.
The President mentioned that Liliia Averianova, the mother of Hero of Ukraine Major Andrii Pilshchykov (Juice), participated in the meeting.
“I have instructed Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to implement certain organizational changes,” Zelenskyy added.
The meeting also addressed the prospects of cooperation with partners. Ukraine is working on personnel issues to strengthen the Air Force command staff and the leadership of the Ministry of Defense.
Mirage from France
Last year, France promised to provide Ukraine with its Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets.
As French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot recently assured, Ukraine should receive the French fighters by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
