Zelenskyy holds meeting of Staff to discuss drones and battlefield situation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief to discuss the frontline situation and drones for the military, according to the President’s evening address.
During the meeting, Zelenskyy heard reports on the situation at the front, particularly in the Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka directions, as well as the Orikhiv direction and events in the Sumy region. They also discussed the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ operations on Russian territory near the border - in the Kursk and Belgorod regions.
"The occupiers will not feel safe there. There was a very detailed conversation about drones - we must significantly increase the use of all types of drones that help on the front lines," Zelenskyy stated.
According to him, drones and technological solutions are currently what allow Ukrainian forces to repel Russian assaults and carry out active operations.
Situation in the Pokrovsk direction
The Pokrovsk direction in eastern Ukraine remains one of the hottest areas of the frontline. In recent days, Ukraine’s General Staff has repeatedly reported fierce fighting in the region.
In early May, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the Defense Forces had stabilized the situation in the Pokrovsk direction in the Donetsk region.
However, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), in the coming months, Russian forces will likely attempt to encircle Pokrovsk and bypass the fortified Ukrainian defense line from the west.
How many drones can Ukraine produce
Previously, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stated that the country can produce around 10 million drones annually. According to him, domestically produced drones are significantly cheaper than their foreign counterparts and have been successfully tested in combat conditions.
