Zelenskyy holds meeting of Staff: Strikes beyond frontline and missile program discussed
On July 23, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a regular meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. In particular, the ability of Ukrainian troops to fight behind the front line was discussed, according to the head of the Ukrainian state.
According to Zelenskyy, the meeting included reports from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, and the Chief of the General Staff, Anatolii Barhylevych. They discussed changes in the operational situation, forecasts, further actions, and the staffing of brigades for timely rotations.
"Much attention was given to the capabilities for strikes beyond the frontline. We analyzed the effectiveness of our various types of drones and the tactics of the Russian army regarding unmanned aerial vehicles," the President said.
He added that at the meeting the issues of effectiveness of Ukrainian electronic warfare capabilities and other methods for countering enemy drones were also discussed.
Additionally, Zelenskyy noted that the meeting addressed the missile program. Currently, Ukraine is actively working to reduce dependence on missile supplies from partners, including air defense ammunition.
Long-range attacks by Ukrainian drones
Recently, Russia has frequently been targeted by drones. Major targets include objects such as oil refineries and oil depots that help Russia continue its war.
Specifically, according to RBC-Ukraine sources, on July 22, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine conducted an operation that involved striking an oil refinery in Tuapse.
Additionally, on May 9, RBC-Ukraine sources reported that a Ukrainian drone flew 1,500 kilometers and struck an oil refinery in Bashkortostan.
