For Ukraine’s domestic politics, tomorrow, January 2, will be an important day. Details are not yet known, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"Tomorrow will be an important day for Ukraine’s domestic politics," the head of state said.

He did not specify what exactly he was referring to.

Zelenskyy has chosen a new head of the presidential office

On November 28, the head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, resigned. On the same day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree officially dismissing him.

The decision came amid rumors that Yermak was mentioned in the so-called Mindich tapes released by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. As of today, law enforcement has not confirmed this information.

It was officially known that NABU officers conducted searches at Yermak’s offices.

Sources told RBC-Ukraine that the push for Yermak’s dismissal came from First Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and members of parliament from the Servant of the People party.

Zelenskyy did not appoint a new head of the Presidential Office for over a month. The President had previously said that candidates for the position included Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal and Fedorov, though replacing them would be difficult. Other candidates reportedly included Chief of Defense Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov and Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa.

On December 30, the Ukrainian President stated that he had decided on a candidate for the new head of the Presidential Office. He did not reveal who it was.
