Ukraine feels betrayed by the loss of such a powerful partner as the US, but it has no intention of surrendering or "selling" its country, according to an interview Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave to journalist Piers Morgan.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that for Ukraine, this struggle is a matter of survival, not business.
"We are not selling our country. Look, guys... It's not about business for us. It's just our life. And this is our country. It's our body. So our home, our children," the president said.
Commenting on Donald Trump's position, the Ukrainian president expressed disappointment over the possibility of Washington siding against Ukraine.
"That's why it's painful when President Trump chooses one side, not our side. But we are OK that he's in the middle. But if you're in the middle, you have to stay in the middle," Zelenskyy stressed.
Relations between Kyiv and Washington have recently experienced some tensions.
In particular, Zelenskyy previously spoke about "surprises" in relations with the US and announced his intention to discuss two key issues with the American side, emphasizing that the situation does not reflect the level of partnership between the two countries.
At the same time, Russia continues its attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure.
Despite the so-called energy ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump, Russian forces once again launched a massive attack on Ukraine's energy facilities using ballistic missiles and drones. In response, Zelenskyy commented on Russia's attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, pointing to an unprecedented level of disrespect from Moscow.
