Zelenskyy discussed the peace formula and 'grain deal' with the President of Zambia
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone dialogue with Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema, wherein their discussions encompassed a range of subjects including the peace formula and the "grain deal," states the head of state in his post on Telegram.
"The significance of the peace formula has intensified in the current context. It represents a singular route towards equitable tranquility and worldwide steadiness, capable of forming our bedrock. Collaborative efforts with our allies are well underway to lay the groundwork for an all-encompassing peace summit," remarked Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy proactively invited Zambia's leader to partake in actualizing the peace formula and engage in the upcoming advisor-level assembly, alongside contributing to the groundwork for the global peace summit.
In addition to these discussions, the leaders of both countries addressed the imperative of prolonging the "grain deal."
"We must collectively put an end to Russia's attempts to weaponize food and the Russian practice of global extortion through hunger and elevated food prices," Zelenskyy declared.
Furthermore, Zelenskyy and Hichilema discussed the Ukraine-Africa Summit and upcoming international initiatives.
Grain deal
In a significant move last July, Russia withdrew from an agreement governing grain trade, which had facilitated the safe export of food from Odesa ports.
On August 1st, Dmitry Peskov, the official Kremlin spokesperson, announced that Moscow is ready to swiftly re-enter the "grain deal," pending the fulfillment of specific conditions set by Russia.e8
Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the United States' Permanent Representative to the United Nations, commented that Russia has expressed a willingness to reengage in discussions about the agreement. However, she pointed out that there is currently a lack of tangible evidence to substantiate this assertion.
