Two separate negotiating sessions are planned in the capital to discuss key issues of cooperation.
"I think we'll have an opportunity to have an extensive discussion with you. One session with us is expected, followed by another session with our European partners," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Security situation
The head of state emphasized the importance of the US delegation's visit and thanked those who helped organize it.
"It's very important that the delegation has arrived. We've been waiting for Steve and Jared for a long time, and we thank President Trump for allowing them to come. This is important from the standpoint of authorization and security," the president said.
Zelenskyy also noted that Ukrainian airports are fully prepared and ready to operate, but Russian strikes pose ongoing risks to air travel.
He said Russia was once again demonstrating its destructive position with its strikes, making safe air travel impossible.

RBC-Ukraine source says diplomatic consultations are currently taking place in the Ukraine-US format. Representatives of the two countries are discussing key issues on the current agenda.
Immediately after this stage of the consultations concludes, representatives of the E3 countries—the United Kingdom, Germany, and France—will join the negotiations.
The source also said the talks are focusing heavily on the coming winter—how to get through it and what can be done.
Witkoff and Kushner in Ukraine
As previously reported, US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv on an official visit. This is their first trip to Ukraine in their capacity as special envoys of the US president.
Ahead of their visit to Ukraine, on September 5, Witkoff and Kushner met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, where they discussed parameters for a possible negotiating process.
The US delegation's agenda in Kyiv includes a series of high-level meetings with diplomats and military leaders to discuss conditions for securing peace and security guarantees.
In addition, on September 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will hold expanded talks not only with the US envoys but also with European partners to coordinate a joint diplomatic position.
