Ukraine and the United States share the same values, and American leadership remains a key pillar in defending freedom around the world, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Power of American dream
The Ukrainian leader emphasized that the American dream of an independent and free nation has served as a model for other peoples for two and a half centuries. In particular, he noted that US support in the 20th century helped save the world from tyranny and laid the foundation for lasting peace.
Today, as Russia continues its full-scale war against Ukraine, Ukrainians are fighting for their independence with the same determination that Americans once showed in securing their own freedom.
Gratitude for weapons and technology
Zelenskyy expressed deep gratitude to the United States for its support and the delivery of critically important weapons.
"American weapons—from the Javelins that US President Donald Trump decided to provide to Ukraine to the Patriots that most reliably protect the lives of our people, everything the United States has done to help us defend our country demonstrates the strength of the American spirit," the president said.
He added that when Ukraine asks the United States for Patriot systems, it does so with faith in the shared values that continue to unite the two nations.
Greetings, faith in shared peace
The president extended official wishes to Ukraine's strategic partner on the occasion of its national holiday.
"I wish America a happy Fourth of July, the President of the United States and all Americans every success, and all of us around the world who value America — fruitful cooperation," Zelenskyy said.
At the end of his message, the president expressed confidence that through close cooperation, free people will overcome evil and achieve lasting peace.
Background
Recently, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about his latest contacts with Washington and plans for a meeting with Donald Trump. He noted that US negotiators have maintained constant communication with Ukraine, providing strong grounds for expecting continued talks at the highest level.
During recent meetings, the two sides also discussed in detail strengthening Ukraine's air defenses, as Ukraine and its European partners need a sufficient number of missile defense systems to stop Russian ballistic attacks.
Kyiv currently hopes for a positive decision from US President Donald Trump on the joint production of Patriot missiles directly in Ukraine, as part of efforts to strengthen the country's defense capabilities.
