The meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump at the Mar-a-Lago residence was substantive, according to a source.

"Everything went very substantively. There is more to work through, but this is one of the most important meetings ever," the source said.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump held talks in the US focused on a peace plan for Ukraine. The two leaders are also expected to engage with European leaders.

Zelenskyy–Trump meeting

On December 26, President Zelenskyy announced that he planned to meet with US President Donald Trump in the near future to discuss a peace plan, noting that key decisions could be made before the End of the Year.

Zelenskyy had previously presented a US-coordinated 20-point peace plan, along with a package of documents on security guarantees and Ukraine’s post-war recovery. US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said that, with White House involvement, a peace agreement could be reached within 90 days.

According to Zelenskyy, the talks with Trump were expected to cover five key areas: security guarantees, military issues, Ukraine’s recovery, and next steps.

Ahead of meeting Zelenskyy, Trump held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The conversation lasted over an hour, and the two agreed to speak again after the Trump–Zelenskyy meeting.

The meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy has already taken place. Further details are available in RBC-Ukraine’s full report.
