The meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump has ended, after which they held discussions with European leaders, which were later reported to have concluded, reports Corriere Della Sera, citing Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

In particular, in addition to our source, the conclusion of the meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy and the start of discussions with European leaders was confirmed by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. He noted that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is also participating in the videoconference.

Tajani noted that Italy and Europe fully support the US initiative, likely referring to a proposed peace plan.

He added that the situation is unfolding step by step and that it remains to be seen whether Putin will accept the proposals. The Italian foreign minister emphasized that security concerns are crucial for Europeans and that Europe has an important role, highlighting the need to remain united with the US to become a key partner in ending the war.

In addition, the Italian foreign minister stressed that it is now important to determine whether the Kremlin genuinely seeks a ceasefire and a lasting peace.

Tajani also noted that two key issues remain: the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and Donbas.

He added that a clear strategy appears to be in place for other matters. Zelenskyy intends to put the proposal to a national referendum. Much will depend on whether Putin truly wants to accelerate the process of reaching an agreement.

Later, it was reported that the conversation with European leaders had also ended, and a joint press conference by Trump and Zelenskyy is expected to summarize the discussions.
