Zelenskyy awaits update from US on peace talks

Zelenskyy said the E3 conversation took place on the evening of May 22.
"We spoke with our European friends: Britain, France, Germany, the E3 format. By the end of the week, there may be an update on the readiness of the Americans," Zelenskyy said.
The President stressed that much depends on developments around Iran, on which the American side is currently focused. According to him, Ukraine’s main priority is to intensify diplomacy to end the war as soon as possible.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Kyiv consistently insists on Europe’s presence in the negotiation process and that the European voice will be taken into account.
"The question is how exactly we together bring the situation to peace that will be reliable and dignified," he noted.
The head of state briefed the leaders of the three countries on the situation in Ukraine and thanked them for their high assessment of the positions and achievements of Ukrainian forces. He also added that he is awaiting a response from the US regarding possible formats and schedules of meetings.
Trilateral talks between Ukraine, the US, and Russia are currently on pause.
According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at a NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Sweden, the talks have not yet produced results, but Washington is ready for new meetings if they are productive.
He also dismissed rumors about US pressure on Kyiv. Earlier, in a May 20 address, Zelenskyy said he hoped to return to trilateral talks involving Europe and later proposed reviving the E3 format for peace negotiations.
