Zelenskyy asks Trump for emergency winter package of Patriot missiles

During a meeting in Washington, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked US President Donald Trump to provide Kyiv with an emergency winter package of interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense systems.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine aims to assemble 300 interceptor missiles by the start of winter.
Ukraine’s stockpile of interceptor missiles is nearly depleted, and without them, the country cannot defend itself against ballistic missiles. That is precisely why Ukraine was unable to stop the recent Russian attacks on Kyiv.
If this problem is not resolved by winter, Russian attacks could destroy Ukrainian power plants, leaving millions of Ukrainians without heat and electricity and creating a humanitarian crisis.
The President emphasizes that once Ukraine receives licenses from the US, it will take between one and five years to produce a large number of interceptor missiles.
According to Zelenskyy, this timeline is not feasible.
"We need the Patriots yesterday," he says.
The President notes that Russia uses between 30 and 40 ballistic missiles during each major strike on Ukraine. The Russians carry out three to five such attacks every month.
Zelenskyy-Trump meeting
On July 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington for a visit and met with US President Donald Trump.
The leaders discussed the production of interceptors for the Patriot air defense system, revitalizing the negotiation process, and other issues.
According to Trump, the meeting went very well.
In addition, yesterday the US Senate, during a procedural vote, supported a bill to strengthen sanctions against Russia and Iran, one of whose authors was Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
