Zelenskyy appoints Svitlana Zalishchuk as Ukraine's ambassador to Sweden - What we know

Svitlana Zalishchuk has been appointed as Ukraine’s new Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden. The corresponding decision was made by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"To appoint Svitlana Petrivna Zalishchuk as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Sweden," the Presidential Decree No. 556/2025 reads.
Who is Svitlana Zalishchuk
Svitlana Zalishchuk is a Ukrainian journalist and former member of Parliament, elected to the Verkhovna Rada in 2014 from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc. Before entering politics, she worked as a reporter on Channel 5 and held positions in the press services of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Presidential Administration. She was also one of the coordinators of the NGO Centre UA and took part in initiatives aimed at promoting reforms and civilian oversight.
In parliament, Zalishchuk chaired the subcommittee on Euro-Atlantic integration and was part of Ukraine’s delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). She has also participated in international conferences and forums focused on democracy, reforms, and human rights.
On July 21, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed decrees appointing ambassadors to 16 countries.
The Ukrainian President also dismissed Andrii Plakhotniuk as Ukraine’s Ambassador to Sweden.
