Olha Stefanishyna has officially become Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States. The formal procedures have been completed, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says.

"I just spoke with Olga Stefanishyna, who is now the new Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States. The formal procedures have been completed—today I signed a decree appointing the Ambassador," Zelenskyy said.

According to the President, he has identified key tasks to revamp the work of the Ukrainian embassy in the US and implement all agreements with President Donald Trump. First and foremost, these are agreements in the defense sector.

"In many ways, Ukraine's long-term security depends on its relations with the US," Zelenskyy noted.

He recalled that two strong Ukrainian proposals for the US are currently being discussed. These are agreements on weapons for Ukraine and an agreement on modern drones for the US. Kyiv is counting on the rapid development of relations with Washington.

Separately, the Ukrainian President thanked former Ambassador to the US Oksana Markarova, who represented Ukraine in Washington throughout the years since the start of the full-scale war.

"We have already discussed further cooperation, and I have asked Oksana Markarova to remain on the team and continue working for Ukraine," he said.

Olha Stefanishyna

Olha Stefanishyna was born on October 29, 1985, in Odesa.

In 2008, she graduated from the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a master's degree in international law and a qualification as an English translator.

In 2016, she obtained a second higher education degree from Odesa National Economic University, specializing in finance and credit.

In 2007, she began working at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, where she held various positions, including director of the Department of International Law and the Department of European Integration.

From 2017 to 2019, she headed the Government Office for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.

In 2020, she was appointed Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Ukraine.

From September 5, 2024, to July 17, 2025, she held the position of Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine - Minister of Justice of Ukraine.

On July 17, 2025, she was appointed Special Representative of the President of Ukraine for the Development of Cooperation with the United States.
