Zelenskyy announces strengthened protection for data centers and communications infrastructure

Protection of data centers and facilities critical to communications will be strengthened in Ukraine, according to a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Additional decisions have been made to protect our data center infrastructure and ensure its uninterrupted operation, as well as other facilities that are critically important in the communications sector," the head of state said.
The president noted that these decisions need to be fully implemented at all levels. Zelenskyy also stressed that this is the personal responsibility of government officials and security service chiefs.
Today, a data center operated by Datagroup was damaged as a result of an enemy attack. Customer data remained safe, and all services continue to operate from backup sites.
In addition, on September 23, one of Kyiv’s data centers was damaged during the attack on the capital. As a result, UTELS and Pavutyna networks experienced partial disruptions to communications and access to internet services.
Later, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said that the Russian strike on data centers was aimed at disrupting the operation of air threat alert systems.
At the same time, experts say that Ukraine will not experience a complete internet shutdown.
