Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced an urgent audit of state-owned defense companies, with all data on violations to be forwarded to law enforcement agencies.
"Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and I discussed preparations for the upcoming government meeting. Significant decisions are planned. The audit of state energy companies and all relevant financial operations is already underway," Zelenskyy says.
According to him, a decision has also been prepared regarding a full audit of state defense companies and relevant contracts. The audit of the defense sector must be complete and as thorough as possible.
"I instructed the Prime Minister to report weekly on the results for the defense sector audit and to provide weekly updates to the Ukrainian public as well. All findings on revealed violations will be forwarded to law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies," the President of Ukraine adds.
The head of state adds that he had instructed the Prime Minister to initiate an urgent audit of the Asset Search and Management Agency and the State Property Fund of Ukraine before the Accounting Chamber.
"The Government is tasked with ensuring the renewal of the supervisory boards in the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex, in addition to the energy sector enterprises," Zelenskyy concludes.
Background
Earlier, NABU exposed a corruption scheme at Energoatom. The company's contractors were forced to pay kickbacks to maintain their status as suppliers and more. As a result, the government decided to dissolve Energoatom's supervisory board.
At the same time, Svyrydenko announced an audit of the largest state-owned companies. Energoatom Vice President Jakob Hartmut was also removed from office.
The audit of Energoatom has already begun. The State Audit Service of Ukraine will check the activities of the company's management, its 10 branches, including three nuclear power plants, for the period 2023-2025.
