Zelenskyy announces creation of Carpathian 8: Which countries are included

Ukraine has created a new cooperation format called the Carpathian 8 (C8). It is intended to strengthen cooperation among countries in the region in the areas of security, energy and the economy, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the head of state, the summit of Carpathian countries is being held in Ukraine for the first time and brings together regions and communities from neighboring countries. The C8 format includes eight participants:
- Romania;
- Serbia;
- Poland;
- Slovakia;
- Czech Republic;
- Austria;
- Hungary;
- the European Union as a whole.
The president emphasized that the creation of the alliance is intended to bring the countries closer together and establish a new platform for addressing common challenges.
"This marks the start of a movement that should bring our countries even closer together and create another strong framework for cooperation at the EU level – security, energy, a significant expansion of logistics and cross-border economic cooperation, as well as substantial support for our communities," Zelenskyy stressed.
It should be recalled that Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that China is not maintaining a neutral position in Russia's war against Ukraine. At the same time, he warned of the possible consequences of cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang for security in East Asia.
The President of Ukraine also said that Kyiv is preparing for talks with US representatives. According to Zelenskyy, these contacts are intended to strengthen Ukraine's position in its confrontation with Russia.
