Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the possibility of restarting negotiations with Russia during talks with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, according to Axios correspondent Barak Ravid and a comment from Ukrainian presidential adviser Dmytro Lytvyn.

According to Ravid, Zelenskyy and the envoys of US President Donald Trump discussed ideas for resuming negotiations with Russia in an effort to accelerate an end to the war in Ukraine.

Ravid noted that no further details of the conversation have been disclosed.

RBC-Ukraine sought confirmation from Lytvyn, who confirmed that the conversation between Zelenskyy, Witkoff, and Kushner had indeed taken place.

"They've just finished the conversation," the presidential adviser said.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that he is scheduled to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on July 23. According to Rubio, one of the key topics of the talks will be finding possible ways to end the war in Ukraine.

Earlier today, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine said that the United States wants Ukraine to win the war. He stressed that achieving this requires a major reduction in the Kremlin’s financial revenues.

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin has no intention of returning any of the occupied Ukrainian territories as part of a potential peace agreement.

RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Russia may be preparing false flag provocations targeting NATO countries in an attempt to undermine allied support for Ukraine.
