Zelenskyy after strike on energy infrastructure in Sumy: We will discuss this with Russia in Türkiye

Due to a Russian drone attack in the Sumy region, over 220,000 subscribers were left without electricity. Energy crews have been working since morning to restore power supply, according to a statement from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The president explained that on July 23, restoration work had been ongoing throughout the entire day in the Sumy region following the Russian drone strike.
"I am grateful to all our repair crews, everyone in the energy sector who is restoring conditions for normal power supply," he added.
According to the president, the drones struck energy infrastructure, leaving more than 220,000 subscribers in the Sumy region without electricity.
"These are hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian families. This morning, most of the supply has already been restored," the president noted.
Zelenskyy reported that as of now, electricity has been almost fully restored in the Sumy region.
“Ukrainians always rebuild what is destroyed. And the representatives of Ukraine at the talks in Türkiye today will again insist on the necessity of an immediate and complete ceasefire, including an end to such strikes on civilian infrastructure," he emphasized.
Today, residents of the Sumy and Poltava regions were left without power. On the night of July 23, power supply was limited in the Sumy region due to Russian drone strikes.
The Regional Military Administration reported that the enemy attacked civilian infrastructure facilities. Due to the power outage, some medical institutions were operating on generators.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms and strong winds hit the Poltava region, causing power outages in several settlements there as well.
Meeting between Russia and Ukraine in Türkiye
This year, Ukraine and the Russian Federation have already held two rounds of negotiations. The third is expected today, July 23.
Earlier, Zelenskyy approved the composition of the Ukrainian delegation, headed by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (RNBO), Rustem Umerov.
According to a source cited by RBC-Ukraine, the Ukrainian side plans to discuss a possible meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, the Kremlin claims that their meeting is possible only after the drafts of memoranda between Kyiv and Moscow are agreed upon.
For more details on what to expect from the third round of negotiations, political analyst Maksym Nesvitailov shared his commentary with RBC-Ukraine.
