President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Ukrainian energy workers and repair crews who are working around the clock to restore the energy system after Russian strikes.

Situation in the energy system remains difficult

The head of state noted that the situation in the energy system remains challenging, but authorities and relevant services are doing everything possible to restore the damaged infrastructure as quickly as possible.

Massive overnight Russian attack

"The situation in the energy system remains difficult, but we are doing everything to restore everything as soon as possible. And during last night, there were over 200 strike drones," he said.

The attacks targeted Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions.

As a result of the strikes, dozens of people were injured, including a child. Currently, two fatalities are confirmed.

Scale of attacks over the week

The president emphasized that just this week, Russia used against Ukraine:

  • over 1,300 strike drones;

  • about 1,050 guided bombs;

  • 29 missiles of various types.

Call to partners

Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine needs more protection, primarily missiles for air defense systems.

"If Russia is deliberately delaying the diplomatic process, the world’s reaction must be decisive: more assistance to Ukraine and more pressure on the aggressor. I thank all partners who are with us now, who are ready to help protect lives and strengthen Ukraine, and work together on restoring security," Zelenskyy said.

For reference, according to the Air Forces, last night Russia attacked Ukraine with 201 strike drones from different directions. As of 8:00 a.m., air defenses had managed to shoot down 167 enemy UAVs.
