Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll have agreed on a specific timeline for signing an agreement under the US plan, Axios reports.

According to the outlet's sources, during negotiations in Kyiv, Zelenskyy assured the US delegation that he is ready to work with Washington on the peace plan.

An unnamed Ukrainian official told journalists that Driscoll handed Zelenskyy a written copy of the plan. At the same time, an unnamed American official clarified that Zelenskyy and Driscoll "agreed on an aggressive timeline" for signing the agreement according to the US plan.

Axios sources said that during the talks, the Ukrainian President was "more conciliatory."

Journalists also learned that Driscoll's delegation initially planned to visit Ukraine to discuss military technology and strategy, but the White House later asked him to help "kickstart negotiations" with Zelenskyy on behalf of US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Senator Marco Rubio.

US contacts with Europe

Axios reports that the Trump administration spent the day trying to reassure Ukraine and its European allies that the plan is not final and that their positions will be taken into account.

In particular, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff told German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in a phone call that the new plan is "a framework of ideas" that includes the positions of Ukraine and Russia.

"If people don't like certain parts of the plan, they should let us know and we will try to find a compromise," an unnamed US official conveyed Witkoff's words to Wadephul.

The US plan

On November 19, reports emerged that the US, with participation from Russian officials, had prepared a peace plan for Ukraine. The plan was developed by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev.

Western media revealed that the plan reflected Moscow’s ultimatum demands to Ukraine, including full Russian control over Donbas and a reduction in the size of the Ukrainian army.

On November 20, the plan was delivered to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Presidential Office emphasized that Ukraine will support constructive proposals to establish genuine peace.
