Zelenskyy: War will end through diplomacy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated, during his interview with CBS News, that Russian leader Vladimir Putin cannot occupy Ukraine, but Ukraine also lacks the strength for de-occupation. Therefore, a diplomatic solution is necessary.
"Undoubtedly, there will be negotiations. Undoubtedly, they will be different — both trilateral and bilateral, different formats. We will reach a diplomatic resolution of this war, because Putin cannot occupy us, and we lack the strength to de-occupy everything. And this is the situation today. And that is why this war will end diplomatically," said Zelenskyy.
He once again stated that Ukraine will not recognize the occupied territories as Russian. Even in the event that Russia exerts pressure on Ukraine regarding this issue through the USA and some other partners.
"They will want us to recognize [them], but we will not recognize this. We will return [the occupied territories – ed.]. When and how – I cannot say today. But this is the goal. Justice. This will be, I believe, ultimately the most difficult. Because as I said – territories will be returned either by people or by time," said the president.
He noted that unlike territories, which can be returned, human losses cannot be returned. Therefore, only one thing can be done – to uphold justice.
"That is, some of the killers must be held accountable for this. I think this will be the most difficult challenge. Because among our partners, some will look for opportunities for certain compromises with the Russians. And we cannot let go of the question of justice," he emphasized.
Truce between Ukraine and Russia
Last month, several rounds of negotiations took place between Ukraine and the USA, and Russia and the USA. As a result of the meetings, Ukraine agreed to a complete ceasefire with Russia for 30 days. However, Russia did not support this idea.
Because the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is trying to ensure that Western countries stop supplying weapons to Ukraine during the truce.
In particular, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov called the US proposal for a 30-day truce "unacceptable," as it does not solve Russia's "problems."
In response, Zelenskyy stated that Russia could agree to a 30-day ceasefire if pressured by the USA.
Last Friday, the special envoy of the US president, Steve Witkoff, held a meeting with Putin. It is currently unknown what exactly they talked about.
