NATO summit in Vilnius

Today, the summit of NATO member states began in Vilnius. Ukraine also participates in it.

Kyiv wants to receive an invitation to join the Alliance at the summit. At the same time, it can become a full NATO member only after the end of the war.

The Lithuanian ambassador to NATO, Deividas Matulionis, believes that Ukraine will not receive an invitation to NATO during the summit. However, it will define clearer conditions for Ukraine to join the Alliance.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that the specific mechanism for Ukraine's accession to NATO should be set at the summit.

In addition to the invitation to NATO, Ukraine wants to receive security guarantees from the West until it becomes a full member of the Alliance.
