Zaporizhzhia left in dark after Russian attacks, private homes hit

On the night of February 6, Russian forces shelled the Zaporizhzhia region. As a result, more than 10,000 residents were left without electricity, and private homes were reported damaged, according to a post on Telegram by Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.
“Private homes have been damaged, 12,000 residents are without power — the enemy is attacking the Zaporizhzhia region. As soon as the security situation allows, crews will begin restoring electricity,” Fedorov wrote, sharing a video showing the aftermath of the attack.

Shortly before the shelling began, the Ukrainian Air Force warned of drones moving toward the Zaporizhzhia region.
Later, the head of the regional military administration reported that unidentified enemy drones were heading toward the Shevchenkivskyi district of Zaporizhzhia.
At 12:47 a.m. Kyiv time, Fedorov wrote about explosions in the region and urged residents to stay in safe locations.

One person was injured as a result of the enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia, the head of the regional military administration reported. The victim is a 14-year-old boy who has received all necessary medical care.

Recent attacks on Zaporizhzhia and the region
On February 5, the enemy carried out targeted attacks on Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region, leaving more than 53,000 residents without electricity.
The strikes damaged energy infrastructure on the right bank of Zaporizhzhia and in several communities of the Zaporizhzhia region.
A drone strike on Zaporizhzhia was also reported on February 3. Two people were killed, and among the injured were children.
