YouTube goes down in Russia on August 8, Moscow complains most
This morning, the video hosting platform YouTube became inaccessible on computers and mobile devices for users in Russia. The majority of complaints regarding the situation have come from Moscow, citing Russian platform Meduza.
Data from a Russian server indicates that by 11:20 AM local time, there were about five thousand complaints about the hosting service. Most complaints came from Moscow, accounting for 21% of the total number.
"According to comments on online service monitoring sites, the video hosting service stopped loading, preventing users from watching videos or leaving comments," the report says.
It is reported that videos are not loading for Russian users on the YouTube app on Android with the MTS operator, although on August 7, videos were shown without restrictions.
Another service says that the YouTube outage did not affect other countries.
At the same time, the report highlights that in recent weeks, there have been disruptions in YouTube's operation in Russia. A source in the telecommunications market suggested that this is related to the authorities' decision to slow down the video hosting service.
