Ukraine should receive an invitation to join NATO at the summit in Washington. Otherwise, Russia may start escalating the war, says the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak.

According to him, the international group should enlist the support of influential world politicians regarding the need to speed up Ukraine's accession to NATO. They should also change the opinion of some politicians in NATO countries, who still believe that Ukraine's entry into the Alliance or an invitation.

"We always ask the question of what additional escalation is meant. We believe, on the contrary, that not giving Ukraine an invitation in Washington will lead to new escalation. Russia will use this as a signal that it has the right to veto. This will cause escalation not only on the European continent but also on the others. We see that Russia is behind many conflicts and wars today," Yermak said.

NATO summit in Washington

This year on July 9-11, the jubilee summit of NATO will be held in Washington.

As US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan noted, assistance to Ukraine will be one of the key issues during the summit.

In particular, during the event, they want to discuss the further supply of weapons.

Also, according to Yermak's recent statement, Ukraine is waiting for historic decisions at the NATO summit.
