China is ready to become more actively involved in the peaceful resolution of three major conflicts around the world — in Ukraine, the Middle East, and Afghanistan, according to Chinese President Xi Jinping at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State.

What Xi Jinping said

The Chinese President said that Beijing is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with all parties to international and regional conflicts.

"Regarding international and regional hotspots such as Ukraine, the Middle East, and Afghanistan, China is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with all parties, follow an approach aimed at addressing both the symptoms and root causes of the problems, and promote political settlement," Xi Jinping said.

According to him, this approach involves addressing both the consequences and causes of international and regional conflicts.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the US for the first time in 11 years. He will meet with US President Donald Trump in Washington on September 24.

However, the Chinese leader will skip the UN General Assembly, where world leaders will gather for a week.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, called for moving from an "endless war" toward an end to hostilities.

According to him, every day of war sets humanity back, while every step toward peace restores hope.
