Chinese leader Xi Jinping met with Russian Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. The parties discussed, among other things, Russia's war against Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

The Chinese leader reminded that his country has repeatedly emphasized the need to adhere to the "three principles of de-escalation" regarding the "Ukrainian crisis":

  • the combat zone should not expand;
  • escalation of the armed conflict must be prevented;
  • provocations that could lead to intensified hostilities must be avoided.

According to Xi Jinping, achieving the fastest possible de-escalation of the situation is necessary.

He also assured that China will continue to adhere to this position and cooperate with the international community to create favorable conditions for a "political resolution of the crisis."

Medvedev's visit to China

China continues to cooperate with Russia despite its full-scale war against Ukraine.

Recently, Russian Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, known for his scandalous statements about the war in Ukraine and threats against Western countries, arrived in China.

According to Russian media, he allegedly delivered a "personal message" from Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Chinese leader.

It is worth noting that a representative of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian, recently called for a swift ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
