US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff wrote on X that journalists may have received information about the US peace plan regarding Ukraine and Russia from a person named “K,” according to a post by Axios journalist Barak Ravid on X.
“U.S. secretly drafting new plan to end Ukraine war. David Lawler and me report for Axios,” journalist Barak Ravid wrote on X.
A few minutes later, a comment from Steve Witkoff appeared under the post: “He must have got this from K.”

It is likely that Witkoff confused private messages and accidentally posted this information publicly.
This was suggested by another American journalist, Michael Weiss, who also wrote about it on X:
“Almost certainly this refers to Kirill Dmitriev, who is quoted in the story. But it seems the Russian side is leaking this for a reason. Also seems Dim Philby doesn't know how Twitter works, but is nonetheless confident of his ability to end the war,” the journalist wrote.
Witkoff and Dmitriev’s “peace plan”
As RBC-Ukraine reported, the US and Russia prepared a peace plan for Ukraine, which includes meeting the Kremlin’s maximalist demands - specifically, requiring Ukraine to give up parts of its territory, some types of weapons, and to reduce the size of its armed forces.
Financial Times journalist Christopher Miller wrote that Ukraine received an urgent proposal from Russian President’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev and US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. The proposal was delivered to Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council. Such a proposal is effectively equivalent to Ukraine’s surrender.
According to Financial Times sources, the plan is currently at the level of a general concept.
Earlier, it became known that American officials have been secretly consulting with Russians to develop a new peace plan for Ukraine.
Western media have reported that the proposals were drafted without Ukraine’s participation.
