A meeting between the US and Russian delegations took place in Florida on Wednesday, March 11. The teams discussed various topics and agreed to stay in contact, according to the US president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.

In addition to Witkoff, the American delegation included US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and White House senior adviser Josh Gruenbaum.

The Russian delegation was headed by Kirill Dmitriev, the special envoy of Russian president Vladimir Putin.

“The teams discussed a variety of topics and agreed to stay in touch,” Trump’s envoy said.

Witkoff did not disclose any details of the talks.

Meanwhile, the head of the Russian side at the negotiations, director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Dmitriev, reposted Witkoff’s post and thanked him “for a productive meeting.”

The previous similar meeting took place in Florida at the end of January.

Negotiations on ending war in Ukraine

Another round of trilateral negotiations was planned for this week, but the meeting was postponed at the proposal of the United States, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

He emphasized that Kyiv is ready to hold negotiations at any time in a format that “can help and will be realistic from the point of view of ending the war.”

In recent days, the Ukrainian president said that Ukraine and Türkiye are preparing to hold a new round of negotiations with the United States and Russia in a trilateral format.

Witkoff reported progress in negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine.

The Trump envoy also said on CNBC that settling Russia’s war against Ukraine is taking more time than the US president expected, but Washington hopes for a turning point.
