Winters are difficult for Ukraine, this one is also dangerous - Zelenskyy
Ukraine is gearing up for a challenging and perilous winter, with Kyiv emphasizing the need for air defense systems to enhance security, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Winter is coming. Winters are always difficult for us, but this one is particularly dangerous. Therefore, we have prepared. We have done our homework. But we still need to receive air defense systems," he said.
Zelenskyy added that he could not disclose further details at this time.
Winter in Ukraine
Since the onset of the full-scale war, Russia has systematically attacked Ukrainian territory, including its energy sector. Almost every night, Russian terrorists launch dozens of drones, targeting critical infrastructure.
On October 15, President Zelenskyy held another meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, during which they discussed the country's energy system's preparation for the winter period.
The International Energy Agency warns that the upcoming winter will pose the most serious challenge for Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
According to a UN report, Ukrainians should expect power outages lasting from 4 to 18 hours per day this winter.
