Will US and Russia discuss Ukraine at negotiations in Istanbul: State Department's response

The US and Russia want to discuss the work of embassies at negotiations in Istanbul. The parties do not plan to address the issue of Russia's war against Ukraine, according to a briefing by US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
Bruce confirmed that the American and Russian delegations will meet in Istanbul on April 10 to "try to make progress in further stabilizing the work of bilateral missions."
"There are no political or security issues on the agenda, and Ukraine is absolutely not on the agenda. These talks are focused on our embassies' operation, not on the normalization of bilateral relations overall," she noted.
According to Bruce, full normalization of relations between the US and Russia can only occur once Russia's war against Ukraine is over.
US-Russia negotiations
Today, Russian media reported that the US and Russia will hold a new round of negotiations in Istanbul on April 10.
It is expected that the Russian delegation will be led by Russia's Ambassador to the US, Alexandr Darchiyev, while the American delegation will be headed by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Eurasian Affairs, Sonata Coulter.
In Russia, it was clarified that they plan to discuss the work of diplomatic missions with the Americans. The issue of the war against Ukraine was not mentioned by representatives of the aggressor country.
Previous negotiations between the US and Russia took place in Saudi Arabia, where the main topic of discussions was a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
