Will there be new strikes against Yemen: UK defense minister's comment
The UK has denied plans for new strikes in Yemen. The military operation was deemed necessary to protect ships in the Red Sea, according to the UK Minister of Armed Forces, James Heappey, on BBC Breakfast.
Heappey emphasized that the military operation was limited, proportionate, and necessary to safeguard military ships and vessels in the Red Sea. However, no new strikes are currently planned.
"As ever, our nation’s armed forces and civil servants who work alongside them have excelled themselves in planning this mission. There was plenty of risk in it and we should all be very proud of what they did last night," added the Minister of Armed Forces.
U.S. and allied strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen
Since November, attacks by Yemeni Houthi rebels on trade ships with links to Israel have continued in the Red Sea. This week, terrorists carried out their largest attack, but it was repelled by military forces of the United States and Britain.
In response to the ongoing terrorist attacks, Britain and the U.S. launched powerful strikes on Houthi-related targets in Yemen on the night of January 12.
