The United States will sooner or later join the war against Iran on Israel's side, as the White House needs to demonstrate its strength. Iran, already significantly weakened by Israeli army strikes, is a perfect "punching bag," said Ukrainian political strategist Taras Zahorodnii in a comment to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.

The political analyst noted that Israel is waging the war with the support of the United States. Therefore, it makes no sense to claim that the US is unaware of the actions of the Israeli government and military.

"All of this is carefully planned. The Americans watched as Israel did the dirty work. Now that the air defense systems have been taken out, it's the perfect time to get involved. I believe a strike will happen — because the US needs to show its strength," he explained.

According to Zahorodnii, the US wants to use strikes on Iran to demonstrate its power to rivals like North Korea, China, and Russia. In other words, Washington wants to show that everything works, everything flies, the bombs are ready — and the will to use them is there. Especially since there are no real risks for the American military.

"There's no need for a ground operation. Everything just the way Americans like it — clean visuals, aircraft carriers moving, missiles launching, the enemy falling, and that's it. So I believe they will go through with it and show their strength," the political analyst added.

What does Trump think?

Zahorodnii believes that Trump is also interested in testing the strength of the US military on Iran. When he says he will or won't go to war with Iran, it's merely a negotiation tactic aimed at making Tehran nervous.

"The Americans have a great term for this — strategic ambiguity. Every US president has used it, just not as bluntly. The idea is to keep your opponent guessing: are you going to surrender or not? If not — then things will go differently. You were told you won't have a nuclear bomb — that means you won't," the political analyst noted.

Will US allies support its actions?

Apart from Israel, the United States will definitely be backed by its allied nations — and even other regional powers. While some may voice opposition publicly, Zahorodnii argues that real actions matter more than statements.

Shiite Iran, he explained, has become a source of instability for all of its neighbors. Moreover, both Saudi Arabia and Türkiye have their own scores to settle with Tehran — and now might be the right time to do so.

"That's why I believe Israel will go all the way — because they have a real chance to change the ayatollahs' regime," the political analyst concluded.

The US is preparing for war

The United States is finalizing preparations for a potential war against Iran. According to Bloomberg, the US is getting ready for a possible strike on Iran in the coming days. The Wall Street Journal reports that Donald Trump has already approved an attack plan, though its execution has been temporarily delayed.

The British newspaper The Guardian, citing its own sources within the US government, writes that Trump is concerned about the effectiveness of American bombs — specifically, whether they are capable of destroying a critical uranium enrichment facility in Fordow.

However, Trump and Tel Aviv may face a major obstacle: the US Congress. On June 19, a bipartisan resolution was introduced there, directly prohibiting the US president from intervening in the war between Iran and Israel.
