Why Trump claimed Russia wants all of Ukraine – Presidential Office explains

Donald Trump's recognition, as the head of the White House, that Russia wants to occupy the entire territory of Ukraine is aimed exclusively at the domestic audience of the United States of America, according to the Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine (OP) Mykhailo Podolyak.
As Podolyak noted, the Russian Federation indeed wanted to fully occupy Ukrainian territory, as confirmed by the US and other countries’ analytical centers. At the same time, effective resistance from Ukraine was supposed to adjust these plans.
“But Trump... here he is working for the domestic market. Why do I say we need to treat such statements calmly? This is not intended for Ukraine, and this is not intended for us, for you and me. This is intended solely for the American political market to explain why there are no such quick results,” he added.
According to the adviser to the head of the President's Office, Trump must explain to the domestic market why the US could not quickly influence the full-scale war on the European continent, which will influence future “rules of conduct.”
“To explain to his voters why this is difficult, he gives various explanations. In this case, he says that Russia is a vast, resource-rich, large, militarized country, which would be difficult to cope with. They intervened, at least stopped the advance of Russia, and so on. This is rhetoric that is understandable to me, but this rhetoric is aimed at gaining electoral support — in other words, rating — in the USA,” Podolyak explained.
Attempts by the US to end the war in Ukraine
In recent months, the US has held a number of separate meetings with representatives of Ukraine and the Russian Federation (RF). During the negotiations, Washington proposed a full ceasefire to Kyiv, which the Ukrainian side immediately supported. Moscow, for its part, began to whine and tried to push its own conditions.
Later, Russia agreed to an “energy ceasefire,” which the Russian terrorists ultimately did not adhere to.
The Head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, reported that Ukraine held a series of online negotiations with partners from the US, the EU, Northern Europe, and the Baltics, during which a 30-day ceasefire was discussed. The parties also discussed pressure on Russia if Moscow rejects the initiative.
