Why Russian strikes on Ukrainian airfields are ineffective: Air Forces explain
Russian strikes on Ukrainian airfields are ineffective, as Ukraine's aircraft is relocated before shelling, Spokesperson of the Air Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yurii Ihnat said to Ukrainian TV.
He commented on the recent shelling of the airfield in the city of Starokostyantyniv in the Khmelnytskyi region.
"This airfield has been attacked before. It's the designated base for a tactical aviation brigade. However, our aviation is quite portable, and our pilots know how to counter the enemy under these conditions. We have dozens of operational airfields across the country. Therefore, the enemy won't be able to easily destroy our aviation," the spokesperson said.
Ihnat explained that Ukrainian aviation operates under a protocol during shelling. Therefore, aircraft are relocated to other airfields even before attacks occur.
Attack on the Khmelnytskyi region
Yesterday evening and overnight, Russian occupiers launched mass shelling on Ukraine. The occupiers employed sea-based and air-based cruise missiles Kinzhals, as well as kamikaze drones.
The Khmelnytskyi region was shelled three times yesterday, including the airfield in Starokostyantyniv. It is known that the attack resulted in damage to private houses, infrastructure objects, and a grain elevator.
