White House: Russia may prepare larger offensive on Kharkiv
The Russian forces may be preparing for a larger offensive on Kharkiv, stated John Kirby, the US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications.
Kirby reminded that Russia has "abandoned the northern part of the country of Ukraine and started focusing exclusively on the east".
So it is very interesting and certainly concerning that they now appear to be setting themselves up to -- at the very least -- use long-range fires to try to range into Kharkiv. And one has to presume that you're not going to do that, if you're not also thinking about some other larger assault directly on the city," Kirby said.
Offensive on the Kharkiv region
Today, May 10, Ukrainian defenders reported attempts by the Russian army to break through the border in the north of Kharkiv region.
The enemy's attempts were unsuccessful - they suffered losses in personnel and equipment. However, the offensive attempts continue.
The National Guard has already released photos showing destroyed Russian armored personnel carriers and eliminated Russian soldiers.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy listened to a report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, regarding the situation in the Kharkiv region. In particular, strengthening the border in the region was discussed.
