The White House has reacted strongly to media reports about the dismissal of American businessman Elon Musk from his position as assistant to the US President for management, according to White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt on Twitter (X).

The White House spokesperson dismissed rumors about Elon Musk's resignation in the near future. She called the Politico article, which claimed Musk would soon leave his position as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), "garbage."

According to her, both Musk and Trump had publicly stated that the entrepreneur would step down from his government role when "his incredible work at DOGE is complete."

Rumors of Musk's resignation

Today, Politico reported that US President Donald Trump told his aides and ministers about Musk's resignation, which is expected to happen soon.

According to the outlet, Trump is satisfied with Musk and his initiative to create the Department of Government Efficiency. However, sources indicate that Trump and Musk have decided that the latter should return to his business and take on a more supportive role.

One source mentioned that Musk will most likely retain an unofficial advisor role and will continue to appear occasionally at the White House.

Another source warned those who believe Musk will completely disappear from Trump's orbit, saying they are "deceiving themselves."

Musk's role

Last year, Musk was an active supporter of Trump's presidential campaign, investing millions of dollars in it.

After Trump's victory, Musk was appointed to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The department's goal was to audit government activities and reduce federal government size and budget expenditures.

Musk even participated in the first meeting of US President Donald Trump's Cabinet, an unprecedented event, as Musk was only an advisor.

However, recently, Trump stated that Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) would cease to exist at "some point."
