Billionaire Elon Musk participated in the first meeting of US President Donald Trump’s Cabinet meeting. This is an unprecedented case since Musk is only a consultant, according to BBC.

In particular, Trump began with a remark, saying that he had assembled a great advisory cabinet.

He added that one of the reasons he was elected was to balance budgets and "get our budget back into shape."

Then, he introduced Elon Musk to the Cabinet members, saying that Musk is "sacrificing a lot... and getting a lot of praise, but he's also getting hit."

After this, Musk stood up and said that the "overall goal" of the Doge team is to "help address the enormous deficit."

"We simply cannot sustain it. this continues the country will become de facto bankrupt. It's not an optional thing, it's an essential thing," he said.

Addressing the Cabinet, Musk said that Doge would certainly make mistakes as they move forward, "but when we make mistakes we'll fix it very quickly."

He cited an example at USAID when "we accidentally canceled - very, very briefly - Ebola prevention."

"I think we all want Ebola prevention so we restored Ebola prevention immediately. There was no disruption," Musk added.

Trump also addressed Musk, asking to "let the Cabinet speak just for a second."

"Is anybody unhappy with Elon? If you are we will throw you out of here," the US President said, drawing laughter and applause.

Trump reiterated his belief that the Cabinet stands behind the tech billionaire and invited Musk to respond.

"It's the 'best cabinet ever, literally'," Musk said.

Trump and Musk’s relationship

Earlier, US President Donald Trump urged Elon Musk to be more aggressive in reducing the federal government.

It was also reported that the Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) had already laid off tens of thousands of federal employees.

Additionally, DOGE claimed to have saved $55 billion for the US. However, analysis showed that this figure was inflated.
