White House clarifies Trump meant Zelenskyy call not Putin

US President Donald Trump will hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tomorrow, September 4. This is what he meant when he answered journalists' questions today, AFP correspondent Danny Kemp reported.
Kemp, citing an unnamed White House official, wrote that US President Donald Trump will call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday.
At the same time, the official clarified that Trump meant Zelenskyy when he said in the Oval Office that he would have a phone "conversation with him very shortly."
What Trump said
Today, September 3, US President Donald Trump, while talking to journalists, answered a question about whether he plans specific measures against Russia, since Russian President Vladimir Putin has not agreed to a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The American leader said that he would talk to him very soon and will roughly know what he is going to do. Whom exactly Trump meant, he did not specify.
Trump has been delaying serious sanctions and tariffs against Russia for several months. At first, he promised that if by August 8 Moscow did not agree to a truce, he would impose tough secondary tariffs.
The American leader took no action against Russia on August 8, even though it did not agree to a ceasefire.
