"It is during this time that our bodies recover, we burn the most fat, our bodies undergo the most detoxification, and our brain detoxifies the most. That's why when you don't get enough sleep, you will feel fatigued," explained Berg.

The doctor noted that when a person sleeps poorly, sympathetic hyperactivity occurs in their body. If you sleep too little, there is a risk of experiencing chronic stress. But that's not the worst part.

"You will be at risk of cardiovascular problems - the risk of a stroke, the risk of becoming diabetic because cortisol and adrenaline release sugar, which then raises insulin. Despite not eating sugar, your blood sugar level will be high," explained the doctor.
