Yesterday, Giorgio Armani departed from a world he had greatly shaped. A fashion designer and couturier, he created clothing, perfumes, jewelry, and even cars. At least a few models bear the maestro’s touch. And his own garage was just as remarkable.

Read more about the cars Armani drove and the ones he helped create in the report by RBC-Ukraine.

Maestro Armani and his cars

A man who spent his life creating elegant clothing and objects of beauty — shaping fashion trends for the entire world — could not possibly have had random models in his garage. Take a look with us at the cars the great couturier valued, and at the same time, compare them with your own tastes: which of his collection did or do you like?

Giorgio Armani proved himself successful in various fields connected with aesthetics and lifestyle. His name is associated not only with luxurious outfits but also with stylish automobiles.

What Maestro Armani drove

Armani’s passion for design and for conveying mood through lines was reflected in his impressive car collection, which included true gems of the automotive world from different eras.

Among them were the prestigious Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman limousine (2010 version), the extended Audi A8 LWB from the same year with its smooth and restrained silhouette, and, in contrast, the emotional and dynamic yet equally dignified Maserati Quattroporte. Against this backdrop, a rather unexpected piece stood out — a respectable Japanese sedan, the Lexus LS 430, which to many contemporaries seemed like a pale shadow of the segment leaders.

Fitting seamlessly into the designer’s garage were such iconic Italian models as the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and the utterly unique high-performance SUV Lamborghini LM002. Another representative of classic Italian engineering was the nearly legendary Alfa Romeo GTV6 sports hatchback.

The collection was further enriched with younger, rare, and cult pieces, including the almost conceptual — but fully drivable — Jaguar C-X75 supercar.

Armani also owned numerous historic classics, including the Ferrari 250 GT, Maserati Merak, Lamborghini Miura SV, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Bentley Turbo R, Jaguar S-Type, and Alfa Romeo 166.

Cars under the Armani brand

Giorgio Armani not only enjoyed the style and performance of some of the most remarkable cars in automotive history — he also took part in creating them.

In collaboration with automakers, he contributed to the development of special and limited editions of select models, including the Mercedes-Benz CLK Giorgio Armani and the Fiat 500e Giorgio Armani Edition.

In 2015, an exclusive version of the Vespa 946 Emporio Armani scooter was introduced. In addition, the designer lent his touch to the creation of yachts, including the luxurious Tecnomar Lamborghini 63 — equipped with two V12 engines and capable of reaching a top speed of 111 km/h (60 knots).

Key points

Let’s emphasize once again: the cars mentioned here serve as a clear example of what can be considered successful — even classic — design. Giorgio Armani was not just an artist; he was among Italy’s wealthiest entrepreneurs and could, in principle, have added any car to his collection. Yet he chose exactly the models we’ve highlighted.
