Western Ukraine, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia under attack - Update on Russia's new massive strike

In the early hours of Thursday, October 30, Russia launched a massive combined strike against Ukrainian territory, targeting both energy and civilian infrastructure.
RBC-Ukraine summarizes what is known so far about the aftermath of Russia’s latest attack.

Weapons used in overnight attack
During the night, Russian forces targeted Ukraine with aeroballistic Kinzhal missiles, ballistic missiles, and Kh-101 cruise missiles, alongside Shahed-type attack drones.
Air defense units were active across nearly all regions of the country.
Kyiv
The capital was attacked with Shahed drones. According to local authorities, air defense systems were engaged throughout the night.
"Air defense forces are working to neutralize aerial threats over the capital. Please remain in shelters until the all-clear is announced," reported the Kyiv City Military Administration.
As of 06:00 AM Kyiv time, there were no reports of damage or casualties.
Kyiv region
In Boryspil, a 36-year-old woman was injured during the attack. She sustained facial and hand burns, as well as cuts to her forearm and leg, and was hospitalized.
According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, she is receiving all necessary medical assistance.
A fire broke out in a private house in the city. Windows of two apartment buildings and another private residence were damaged. Two cars were destroyed, and four more were damaged.
Zaporizhzhia
During the night of Thursday, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding district for several hours.
A dormitory was hit, with several floors completely destroyed.
Multiple fires erupted in residential areas, and infrastructure facilities were also affected.
As of 06:00, reports confirmed four people injured as a result of the combined Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia.
Two victims, a 45-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, were taken to the hospital.
Two other women received medical assistance on site and declined hospitalization.
By 06:20 AM Kyiv time, Governor Ivan Fedorov reported that the number of injured had risen to 11.
Among the wounded were six children, three girls and three boys, aged between 3 and 6 years old.
According to the Regional Military Administration, Russian forces struck Zaporizhzhia overnight with at least 20 drones and 8 missiles.
Several floors of a dormitory were destroyed, and one person may still be trapped under the rubble, according to preliminary reports.
Rescue operations are ongoing.
Dnipro
The city of Dnipro came under ballistic missile attack overnight. The Air Force tracked high-speed targets approaching the city.
As of 06:30 AM Kyiv time, there were no reports of damage or casualties.
Ivano-Frankivsk
The city was targeted by cruise missiles, and explosions were reported. Local authorities confirmed the operation of air defense systems.
After the blasts, residents began reporting power outages, which were later confirmed by Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv, who said:
"There may be power outages! The country’s energy infrastructure is under attack."
As of 06:30 AM Kyiv time, no damage or injuries were reported.
Kirovohrad region
The Regional Military Administration declared an air raid alert around 00:44 AM Kyiv time,. As of this morning, there were no reports of damage. However, Ukrzaliznytsia reported train delays due to the security situation:
"Train №6035/6036 Pomichna–Znamyanka is delayed due to the security situation in the region."
Mykolaiv region
Railway traffic in the region was also affected by the strikes.
"As a result of the attack, we have power outages in Mykolaiv region. Backup diesel locomotives have been deployed; passenger trains will run with delays," Ukrzaliznytsia stated.

Poland scrambles fighter jets
Due to Russia’s combined strike and the threat to western regions, Poland’s Air Force scrambled F-16 fighter jets.
"Following the Russian Federation’s attack on targets in Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft began operations in our airspace," the Polish Armed Forces announced.
Standby pairs of fighters and an early warning radar aircraft were launched, while ground-based air defense and radar systems were placed on high alert.
"These actions are preventive and aimed at ensuring safety and protecting airspace, especially in areas close to zones under threat," said Polish command.
Emergency power outages
Following Ukrenergo’s directive, emergency power shutdowns were implemented across Ukraine due to the combined Russian strike on October 30.
Massive missile and drone attacks targeted the energy infrastructure, leading to power cuts in most regions.
"Repair work will begin as soon as the security situation allows. Emergency outages will be lifted once the power system stabilizes," the statement read.
According to DTEK, outages were active in Kyiv, Kyiv region, and Dnipro region.
Poltavaoblenergo also reported emergency power cuts.
