'We want just peace. We will do everything to strengthen army,' Zelenskyy
Ukraine needs a fair peace for itself and its citizens. The government will do everything to strengthen the army, states President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a prayer breakfast on the Armed Forces Day of Ukraine, according to RBC-Ukraine.
"We want a fair peace for Ukraine, and we will not forget about justice for all Ukrainians. The just right of all our people to live in their own home, in safety and peace. We thank everyone who helps Ukraine, and thus helps themselves. When justice is returned to one, the chance appears for everyone in the same way," said the president.
Ukraine's Armed Forces Day
Ukraine's Armed Forces Day is celebrated annually on December 6. This holiday was established in honor of adopting the Ukrainian law "On the Armed Forces of Ukraine" in 1991, which laid the foundation for creating the country's national army. The date also symbolizes the memory of the courage and dedication of Ukrainian soldiers who defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
On this day, ceremonies are traditionally held, military personnel are awarded, and there are moments of silence in memory of the fallen. The holiday has gained special significance since the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine, when the role of the Armed Forces became crucial in defending the state.
During the morning ceremony for Ukraine's Armed Forces Day, Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian army is the country's security's first and true guarantor.
