'We can't let up.' Hillary Clinton backs Harris and mocks Trump at DNC
Former US Secretary of State and Democratic candidate in the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton, publicly expressed support for Kamala Harris at the Democratic Party Convention in Chicago and openly mocked Republican candidate Donald Trump, according to CNN.
Clinton stated that Harris, as the Attorney General of California, had sent murderers and drug dealers to prison and that she would never stop caring about the freedom and safety of citizens.
In contrast, Clinton said Trump had entered history as “the first person to run for president with 34 felony convictions,” referring to his convictions in New York. After these words, the crowd chanted, “Lock him up!” and Clinton paused and smiled.
The politician added that Democrats are now in a better position than Trump, and regardless of what the polls show, “we can't let up.”
“We have to fight for the truth. We have to fight for Kamala as she will fight for us,” Clinton declared.
Democratic Party Convention in Chicago
The National Democratic Party Convention is taking place in Chicago and will run from August 19 to 22. Delegates will officially nominate their party's candidates for President and Vice President, who will be current Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
On the first day of the convention, current US President Joe Biden, who withdrew his candidacy from the election about a month ago, delivered a farewell speech and voiced support for Harris.
In his speech, Biden urged Americans to vote for Harris and once again criticized his predecessor, Donald Trump.
