US President Donald Trump believes that the war between Israel and Iran has already ended and that hostilities are unlikely to continue, according to the US leader’s press conference following the NATO summit in The Hague.

Trump reminded that last weekend, US forces carried out a targeted strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities where uranium was being enriched. The operation was successful.

According to him, no country in the world could have conducted such an operation better than the US did.

"This paved the way for a peace with a historic ceasefire agreement late Monday. We called it a 12-day war. We think it's over. I don't think they are going to back at each other. Not only have we dealt decisively with a critical threat of Iran's nuclear program, which was what I wanted, I said, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon," the US president added.

Iran delayed signing a nuclear agreement with the US. Against this backdrop, Israel launched missile strikes on Iranian territory. The main targets of the Israeli forces were nuclear facilities.

Some of these sites are located deep underground. Therefore, to destroy them, Israel needed help from the US — only American aerial bombs can penetrate such heavily protected uranium enrichment plants.

On June 22, US aviation struck Iran. The US attacked nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.
