A coalition partner of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico plans a trip to Russia. The leader of the far-right Slovak National Party, which is part of the ruling coalition, and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Andrej Danko, stated that he wants to be like Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Aktuality informs.

Danko stated that he received an "invitation" to visit Russia, but did not specify who invited him. He said he wants to emulate Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán.

"Orbán was in Russia, and I also had an invitation. I have an invitation for any date I choose, but I will go there mainly because if the bad Russians cut off our oil, as you say, then even crying won't help us here," he said.

Danko justified his trip to Russia by the recent cessation of Ukraine’s supply of Russian oil from Lukoil to Slovakia and Hungary. According to the SNS leader, this decision was made "out of spite" by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Sanctions against Lukoil

Hungary and Slovakia announced the cessation of oil supplies from the Russian company Lukoil through Ukraine. The reason for this was Lukoil's inclusion in Kyiv's sanctions list.

The countries appealed to the European Commission to start consultations regarding the trade agreement with Ukraine.

However, the EU Commissioner for Trade, Valdis Dombrovskis, stated that Brussels would need time to gather evidence and assess the legal situation.

It should be noted that the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz Ukraine, Oleksii Chernyshov, explained that the volumes of supplies to European countries have not changed, as the sanctioned company's resource was replaced with oil from other owners.
