European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reported on a phone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The parties discussed the current situation regarding the war, as well as the EU’s plans, according to a post on von der Leyen’s social media.

According to her, from day one, Europe has stood alongside Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.

“We have been working for a just and sustainable peace with Ukraine and for Ukraine together with our friends and partners. Today we have discussed the current situation and we are clear that there should be nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine,” the European Commission President wrote.

Von der Leyen also added that the next steps will include a meeting of European leaders tomorrow on the sidelines of the G20, followed by the EU-AU (European Union–African Union) summit in Angola.

The day before, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held phone conversations with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The parties discussed the US peace plan for Ukraine, under which Kyiv would be forced to cede its eastern territories to Russia, reduce the size of its army, and more.

At the same time, it is reported that the leaders of the European Union are urgently developing their own plan to end the war in Ukraine, which is expected to be more favorable for Kyiv.
