Vance flies from US to Israel, goal revealed

US Vice President JD traveled to Israel on Monday to hold a series of meetings amid the Trump administration’s efforts to maintain the fragile peace in the region, Ukrinform reports.
JD Vance was accompanied by his wife, Usha Vance. The departure took place on Monday afternoon from Andrews Air Force Base near Washington. The vice president did not speak with reporters before takeoff.
The day before, he had announced the possibility of visiting Israel in light of escalations between Israel and Hamas following the signing of an agreement. However, Vance did not specify the date of his departure.
Vance’s visit to Israel is expected to last two days. During his stay, he has a series of meetings scheduled, including with the country’s prime minister and president, as well as with families of hostages and recently released prisoners.
Trump’s plan faces challenges
At the beginning of October, US President Donald Trump announced that Washington had developed a new plan to end the war between Israel and Hamas.
Negotiations between the parties began immediately afterward, and a few days later, Trump reported that the first stage of a peace agreement had been signed. On October 10, a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas officially went into effect.
However, on October 19, the IDF reported that Hamas militants fired anti-tank missiles at Israeli soldiers in the Rafah area, violating the ceasefire. In response, Israel carried out a series of airstrikes, including strikes in central Gaza.
By the evening, the IDF stated that the Israeli military had resumed compliance with the ceasefire.
According to Axios, Israel had informed the US in advance about the retaliatory strikes. Sources also noted that such incidents were generally expected and added that the next 30 days will be crucial for the implementation of Trump’s peace agreement.
