The ceasefire reached between Israel and Hamas took effect on Thursday, October 10, at 12:00 p.m., after US President Donald Trump announced the signing of the first stage of the peace plan, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported.
It is noted that starting from 12:00, the Israel Defense Forces began positioning along the updated deployment lines in preparation for the ceasefire agreement and the return of hostages.
"IDF troops in the Southern Command are deployed in the area and will continue to remove any immediate threat," the statement said.
Agreement on ending the war in the Gaza Strip
Last week, US President Donald Trump developed a plan to end the war between Israel and Hamas. It includes 20 points and provides for the creation of an International Council of Peace.
Israel approved the first stage of the agreement, which will lead to a ceasefire and the release of hostages.
According to the agreement, Israel will partially withdraw its troops, then Hamas will have 72 hours to release all Israeli hostages, and Israel will release hundreds of Palestinian detainees.
Hundreds of US military personnel will work to stabilize the situation in the Gaza Strip together with the military from several Middle Eastern countries.
Hamas militants are expected to release all hostages in the first half of next week. The signing of the final agreement on Gaza is planned to take place in Egypt.
